British bingo-players find trouble in Turkey
Two unsuspecting British
holidaymakers ended up in a police interrogation in Turkey after what
they thought was an innocent game of bingo.
Sarah Holland and
Carla Harrison, both 25, from North Wales were on holiday in Altinkum
when they decided to join in a fun bingo game in a bar, hoping to win
free drinks. Little did they know that this would lead them to be
arrested and questioned by local police for four hours, and
subsequently fined the equivalent of £42.
The two girls
could not believe their bad luck and thought at first that it was all
a big joke... until they were hustled into a police van.
In
Turkish law, gambling - including bingo - is illegal.
So
unless you want a really good story to tell on your return, watch out
for local customs if you're planning a flutter whilst you're
away.
